le maison for the weekend:

Château de Bourron

le voyage

le voyage

the birthday celebrations will be held at château de bourron in the tiny, cute town of bourron-marlotte near fontainebleau (40 miles south of paris and in the heart of a 40 hectare park).

we’ve planned this weekend in the hopes that fourth of july office closures will help make the travel to france at least a bit easier.

if you plan to make the trip for the long weekend, we recommend you arrive to château de bourron (or your hotel) by the afternoon of saturday, july 1 and plan to depart the morning of tuesday, july 4. events will be held saturday evening through monday night.

the chateau’s proximity and ease of travel to/from paris make it an attractive destination for the weekend’s celebration. it will take approximately 1 hour to get to château de bourron from paris. for those arriving by air, the most expedient route to join us would be to fly into aéroport d’orly (orly) or aéroport de roissy-charles de gaulle (cdg) and from there take a taxi or rental car directly to bourron-marlotte. for those arriving into cdg, you also have the option to take a train from the airport to the chateau, as quite handily, there is a train station a mere 2 minutes away. coordinating someone to pick you up from the station shouldn’t be a problem.

  • detailed directions by car, taxi, train and plane can be found here: https://www.castle-paris.com/find-us/

  • if you are interested in booking a rental car, we highly recommend virtuo! it’s incredibly easy, all done through an app.: no shuttles, no up-charges, no counter queues.

les passports

please ensure that your passport will be valid for at least three months beyond your period of stay in France/Europe. note that passport renewal processing times take 8-11 weeks.

les familles

we absolutely love your kids, but this weekend celebration is for adults only. 🖤

la location

le
château

as mentioned, we’ve rented château de bourron for the weekend, and there are many rooms available for our guests. that being said, these spots may go quickly. if you know you want to stay with us at the château, please let us know via the rsvp button (or otherwise) so we can save a space for you. sadly, these spots are now all spoken for. if you still need space, reach out to us, we can help!

l’addition

for those guests staying at the château, we are asking for a contribution of $150/night towards a portion of your lodging at château de bourron. the rest is on us. we’re so incredibly grateful and excited that you might be willing to make the long journey to join us for some fun!

les hotels

for those inclined to needing a bit more personal space, or for those that due to limited availability are unable to join us in the chateau, there are several cute hotels nearby. contact us if this is you, and we’ll help you find the best fit.

here are a few to get you started:

note: if you are staying in a nearby hotel, a rental car may be useful to you if you plan to explore the surrounding area, but is absolutely not necessary to travel to/from your lodging and the château. none of the above hotel recommendations are further than 10 minutes from château de bourron, and there are plenty of good taxi companies, as well as uber in the area. additionally, we have organized a shuttle service for late-night transportation from the events at the chateau back to your hotels.

manger et boire

once you arrive in bourron-marlotte, with the exception of lunch on monday july 3, all meals will be taken care of by your hosts. for those that wish do to their own thing, there is a cute cafe and a couple of restaurants in town, as well as a boulangerie and small grocery store for snacks. there are plenty of additional options slightly further afield. we'll (obviously) have plenty of drinks on hand, but feel free to supplement as you see fit.

les activités

château de bourron is surrounded by many places to admire, including charming villages, magnificent castles and expansive forests. for inspiration and ideas on what to see and do while in the region, visit here.

also, as we mentioned, paris is only around 60 minutes north of the chateau, so extending your trip for some adventures either before or after the long birthday weekend is highly encouraged. if there is sufficient group interest for a dinner/night out in paris before or after our time at the chateau, we (as always) have our eyes on, and wheels turning, for some fun things to do.
